New York Steak, 1″ Bone-In Recipe

Steak is an ultimate favorite and is considered as a feature in western cuisine. To those people who fall in love with western cuisine or those who might just want to try it from time to time, a steak is definitely a must. You just can’t help crave for its lingering smell and its watery and greasy texture that would surely make you ask for more. Though, a careful step should be taken in order to acquire the desired outcome of your steak.

When it comes to cooking the steak, it is important to know first how you prefer it to be cooked. You can have it done as rare, medium rare, and well done. There is a prescribed heat to the way you want them done: Well done (160°-170°F), Rare (120°-130°F), Medium rare (130°-140°F). These are the temperature levels for every side the meat.

Some people usually commit mistakes in distinguishing the type and size of meat in the way they prefer it to be cooked. In choosing a meat for steak, it is best to choose those that do not have fats. Furthermore, when it comes to the thickness or the size of your steak, in order to have the finest steak, it is better to choose meat that is thick in form– probably 1 inch or 1 ½ inch since these are considered as the top choice.

This time, we are going to prepare a 1” bone-in rib steak; you are just going to need the following:

 

1/2 kilo bone-in rib steak (1‘’ inch thick)

1 tsp. coarse kosher salt

1 whole medium sized garlic, diced

1tsp. black pepper

 

PREPARATION

Paper dry the meat by using paper towels.

Sprinkle the diced garlic all over the meat, especially to the bone. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Leave it rest for about one hour at room temperature.

Heat your ovenproof skillet pan over 300° F for 15 minutes. At the same time, heat your broiler.

In the hot skillet, lay the meat for a couple of minutes. After which, transfer it to the broiler and leave for about 3-5 minutes if you want it to be done in rare, 4-5 minutes for medium rare, and 6-8 minutes for well done.

It is best to let it rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.
